Frequently asked questions

Can I play Need for Speed Carbon in a browser?
Carbon Online opens the game from the website in a compatible browser. Before your first launch, prepare the client files and complete the browser check. The project is in beta; an available room and a compatible server are also needed for an online race.
Do I need my own copy of the game?
Yes. You need your own licensed copy of Need for Speed: Carbon and its game files to use the project.
Does browser play mean there is no download?
The first launch requires preparation and a download of the necessary files. They occupy browser storage. Review the size shown before confirming preparation; a later client update may require additional files.
How do I race with a friend?
Create accounts, prepare the client and join the same available room. Check the selected cars, track, laps and room restrictions before starting. Room availability depends on the servers and compatible client versions.
Where do I customize my car?
Open the in-game garage from your account. Add or select a car and change its parts and appearance there. Use Return to website and wait for confirmation that the changes have been saved to your account.
Can I play on a phone?
Plan to use a computer and a compatible browser with WebGPU. Mobile gameplay is not currently a supported promise of the project. Use the application's browser check before downloading the client.
Are all tracks and original game modes available?
The project currently focuses on the garage and online races. Available tracks, player limits and lap settings are shown in the lobby and depend on the server and client. The beta does not promise every feature of the original game.
What should I do if preparation or saving fails?
Follow the specific message shown in the application and retry the indicated check. Wait for saving to complete before closing the game. Keep the browser's site data while a profile or save is awaiting confirmation.
Is this an official Electronic Arts service?
No. Carbon Online is an independent fan project and is not affiliated with Electronic Arts. Game names and trademarks belong to their respective owners.
