What you need to play Carbon Online
Check the requirements before preparing the client. Browser support and available storage can vary between computers, browsers and settings.
Requires your own licensed Need for Speed: Carbon files and a compatible desktop browser.
Your own licensed game files
You need your own licensed copy of Need for Speed: Carbon and its game files. Carbon Online is an independent fan project. Browser access does not remove this requirement.
A compatible browser on a computer
Use a desktop browser that provides WebGPU and browser file storage. The application checks these capabilities along with shared memory and the mechanisms needed to manage the game files. Use that actual check rather than relying on a browser name alone.
The check runs before preparation. It does not confirm game performance or every online-race scenario. Mobile gameplay and fixed frame rates are not promised.
Storage and the first download
Client and game files are prepared in browser storage. Review the required download size shown by the application and allow enough free space for the preparation. Existing files may be checked again when you return or update the client.
Keep the browser's site data while a profile or save is awaiting confirmation. Clearing site storage can remove local files and require preparation again.
Internet, an account and an available server
Create a Carbon Online account for your garage and online races. An internet connection is required for preparation and online play. Available rooms, tracks and race settings depend on server availability and compatible client versions.
Open the guide for the preparation order, then use the application's real browser and client checks in the lobby or garage.
